New York's manufacturing base needs technicians with strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills that help assure safety and enhance mechanical know-how. This Introduction to Mechanical Technology microcredential provides you with a foundational understanding of Microsoft Word, Access and Excel, introduction to reading blueprints and schematics encompassing machining, construction, and welding drawings, and the know-how to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, piping, instrumentation, and refrigeration drawings. Tours of local manufacturing facilities allow you to experience the manufacturing environment first-hand. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study, apprenticeship and to apply for entry-level technician, assembler or operator positions.
