If you have a passion for fashion and sewing, consider this Cut and Sew microcredential developed in partnership with local manufacturers in the Hudson Valley. You will learn essential, foundational skills in commercial sewing and patternmaking and then have the option to customize your microcredential by selecting the third course depending on your interests and career needs. You can opt to take either the Fit Analysis course which introduces you to fitting clothes on professional industry models and making corrections on the production pattern; the Grading, Markers, Laser Cutting which dives deeper into pattern making by hand and computer software giving you experience with an industrial laser cutter; or the Tech Packs course which teaches you how to prepare the sample tech packs that provide the instructions to sample makers and factories (knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel are helpful for this course). Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you to immediately apply for sewing and production positions at any of the Cut and Sew manufacturing companies located in the Hudson Valley. This microcredential can also prepare you for continued study, apprenticeship, and even provide you with the essential skills needed to bring your personal designs to life and ready for sale.
