This Teaching Students with Disabilities microcredential is designed for existing New York State certified teachers who want to expand their knowledge and skills and/or pursue the New York State Students with Disabilities (All Grades) Teaching Certificate to teach special education. This microcredential begins with a focus on the principles of universal design for all, where you will learn collaborative learning strategies to engage all students. You will learn about evidence-based instructional tools for teaching reading, math, and social sciences for students with disabilities. You will understand systematic instruction, including the development of individual needs assessments, goal setting, and instructional plan development. Positive behavioral interventions and supports will be emphasized, including evidenced-based practices for classroom management. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and readies you with new tools to support all students.
