What you'll learn
Alcoholism and substance use and abuse are major concerns in New York and many other states in the U.S.; with growing need for those certified to help. Begin the path to certification with this Drug Counseling ∧ Mental Health microcredential, the first of what will be a three-microcredential series. The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) anticipates many opening for substance abuse counselors in the state over the coming years because of retirements. OASAS indicates that the need is currently high in the Mohawk Valley Region. OASAS certifies all Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASAC) in the state. This microcredential has been designed to align with the requirements of the CASAC credentialing and begins the education component of what is an education/work hour focused certification process. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continue study and readies you to apply for entry level administrative positions in rehabilitation settings.
