High school and middle school guidance counselors are dedicated professionals who play a critical role in preparing today’s students for college and career. SUNY Oneonta is proud to partner with the Office of Student Pathways, NYC Public Schools, to offer the College and Career Counseling Advanced Skills microcredential in support of their work. This microcredential is designed for those who have completed the Foundations of College Counseling I course from the Student Pathways office. It provides NYC counselors and educators with advanced knowledge, skills, and experience in leveraging advanced labor market information resources and information systems. Counselors will be able to identify the appropriate resources to search as they learn to better understand changing industry/sector employment trends (by region and state). Counselors will study best practices in career- and college-connected advising, aligned with NYC’s Career Navigation Roadmap. Successful completion of this microcredential provides specialized skills to existing counselors to help them keep pace and advance in their work. This microcredential awards graduate-level credit toward the CAS - School Counselor Advanced Certificate and Master’s in Education School Counselor programs for those who need them.
