Play a crucial role in assisting pharmacists in various tasks related to medication dispensing and patient care with this Pharmacy Technician Preparation microcredential. This microcredential pairs work in the classroom and laboratory with a series of clinical rotations at local hospitals and pharmacies. You will gain essential skills, knowledge and experience in dispensing new prescriptions and refilling prescription orders, packing and labeling prescriptions, preparing sterile and nonsterile compounded medications, tracking medication inventory, and processing insurance claims. The role of the pharmacy technician under the supervision of a pharmacist has been expanded in recent years to include medication reconciliation, screening for medication allergies and immunization administration. If you like working as part of a team to care for patients and enjoy customer service, this microcredential is a great fit for you. Successful completion of this microcredential is designed to prepare you for success on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) CPhT certification exam as well as licensure by the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you to immediately apply for pharmacy technician positions.
