Share your passion for snowboarding as a certified instructor! With courses held on the beautiful Gore Mountain, this microcourse is an opportunity to build on your existing experience and gain essential skills in leadership, coaching, movement and performance, control, safety, and emergency response. Successful completion of this microcredential provides you with the opportunity to earn the nationally recognized American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) Level I certification. You will be prepared for continued study, internships and to immediately apply for positions as a Level I snowboarding instructor. You also have the opportunity to customize additional certifications earned by selected one of two options for the required third course in this microcredential. Taking HED 104 American Red Cross First Aid and Safety yields certifications in RTE (Responding to Emergencies), pediatric and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED). Opting to take HED 108 Wilderness First Responder results in certifications in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) as well as the Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification. The WFR sets standards of practice for outdoor professionals providing pre-hospital backcountry first response and emergency medical care in remote environments, adding with EPI Pen and Narcan certifications. HED 108 adds one additional academic credit, bringing the estimated tuition to $1,155. For those who already have emergency response certifications and/or who want to achieve the AASI Level I Certification alone, you have the opportunity to register for the Snowboarding Instruction Level 1 Certification only. This option provides a reduced number of credits, 2, and reduces costs to $462.
Credits earned in the completion of this microcredential can be applied toward completion of a related certificate or degree program. It is a building block that gives you a jump start to education and career success.
