This General Management: Business Law & Communication microcredential is designed to support administrative careers in the legal field, at law firms or in the legal offices of corporations. You will gain essential skills in business communication including written and verbal communication, preparation of correspondence and the ability to thoroughly analyze correspondence written by others. You will learn the fundamental concepts, principles and rules of law and equity that apply to business activities, particularly commercial transactions and employment law. You will also study the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice in the workplace that have evolved from an emphasis on HR compliance to a strategic-level, organization-wide effort. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares all for continued study and internships and prepares those with existing administrative experience with the ability to immediately apply for administrative roles in law firms such as office assistant and project assistant; and those with some experience in legal offices to apply for legal secretary positions.
Credits earned in the completion of this microcredential can be applied toward completion of a related certificate or degree program. It is a building block that gives you a jump start to education and career success.
