This microcredential provides students with a foundational understanding of key investment concepts, including diversification, P/E ratio analysis, the trade-off between perceived risk and expected return, beta analysis, the time value of money, and portfolio construction. You will explore specific investment vehicles such as publicly traded stocks, bonds, real estate, and the basics of options and futures. Putting new skills to work, a capstone project wil have you prepare a personal retirement plan, building and defending a retirement portfolio. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and also readies you to apply for positions such as financial analyst, portfolio assistant, investment advisor, or retirement planning consultant.
