Illustration for books and graphic novels is the focus of this Illustration: Concepts microcredential! You will gain essential skills in book illustration, editorial illustration, and sequential (using a sequence of images to convey a story) art using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. You will learn the styles and techniques that drive the contemporary pre-school and elementary school book market, with a focus on research, character development, problem solving, and the aesthetic quality of the illustration. This microcredential also exposes you to the process of writing, editing, and creating graphic novels. Opportunities for crossover include graphic design, marketing, and digital animation. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and can help you achieve your dreams of being an author and illustrator! It provides practical skills that can be used to apply for junior illustrator positions in publishing and broader work as a freelance artist in graphic design, game design, and more.
