Considering a career in nursing or other health-related program but worried about tackling the science requirements? Take it step by step with the two-microcredential Pre-Nursing Primer series. This first microcredential allows you to strengthen your scientific preparation for the demands of a nursing degree program or other healthcare-related program by completing the science requirements prior to starting your academic program of interest. Successful completion of this microcredential alone gives you a 7-credit jumpstart on the Corning Community College associate degree program in Nursing; 19 credits if you complete both microcredentials in the series. This microcredential includes learning objectives and standards that will allow you to demonstrate the required knowledge of basic biology and chemistry to meet the rigorous demands of a nursing program. It was designed in consideration of transfer requirements and in consultation with local healthcare employers. If you discover that nursing may not be the path for you, your credits may also be applied toward the Liberal Arts and Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences A.S. degree.
Credits earned in the completion of this microcredential can be applied toward completion of a related certificate or degree program. It is a building block that gives you a jump start to education and career success.
