This Teaching for Creativity and Innovation microcredential provides teachers with in-demand skills needed to foster student curiosity, innovation, reflection, and adaptability. Directly aligned to New York State's Portrait of a Graduate, this microcredential centers on the study and application of research-based creativity and problem-solving frameworks. You will engage in a deliberate Creative Problem Solving (CPS) process to clarify challenges, generate ideas, develop solutions, and implement innovative outcomes. You will understand both the cognitive and affective dimensions of creative and critical thinking while gaining deeper insight into your own creative strengths and leadership capacities. Successful completion of this microcredential readies teachers to design learning experiences that intentionally develop the Portrait of a Graduate Creative Innovator competency, creating classroom environments where creativity, collaboration, and reflective thinking thrive. In an era increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence and rapid change, participants will be prepared to help students develop distinctly human capabilities - thinking critically, communicating effectively, reflecting deeply, and leading innovative solutions to complex challenges.
