What you'll learn
This Teaching Assistant Pathway II microcredential is designed to build on the foundational coursework completed in Teaching Assistant Pathway I and further prepare students seeking advancement in the field of education. To reach NYS Teaching Assistant Level III certification, applicants must complete at least 18 credits of college coursework. This microcredential explores child development, diversity and exceptionality, educational philosophy, and contemporary issues in education, while helping students better understand how to support diverse learners in today's classrooms. Students may also select coursework that aligns with either the A.A.S. in Early Childhood Education or the A.S. in Early Education transfer pathway. Successful completion of this microcredential satisfies the coursework requirements for the current New York State Teaching Assistant Level III certification and prepares students for continued study toward teacher education degree programs and the Professional Teaching Assistant certificate.
