This Manufacturing Basics microcredentials is the first in the Machining microcredential series, focused on the growing demand in New York State for CNC operators, programmers, and machinists. Designed to have value on its own and as part of the series, the Manufacturing Basics microcredential prepares you to pass common print-reading tests and equips you with essential shop math skills. You will learn basic manual machining skills, manufacturing terminology and processes, and their application. You will gain in-demand skills in manufacturing methods including forming, joining, assembling and finishing. You will also gain new skills in the use of hand tools as well as set up of lathes, grinders, mills, drill presses and more. This microcredential readies all to continue their education, through the Machining Series and onto the Machine Tool A.A.S. degree. While shops have varying requirements for entry level roles, this microcredential prepares you to immediately apply for entry level machinist roles under the supervision of an experienced supervisor.
