Front Line Supervisor (of Direct Support Professionals)

Build confidence in your work as a Front Line Supervisor through this innovative microcredential delivered in partnership with the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP). This microcredential is for those who have been working in a supervisory capacity for a minimum of six months and who are seeking both their NADSP national certification and a jumpstart on a college degree. Your coursework will help you to see interpersonal relationships and group interactions through the lens of a supervisor, building your understanding of how key attitudes and behaviors affect productivity. Each course is aligned with national competencies for Direct Support Professionals in key areas centered on professional ethics, crisis prevention and intervention, safety, person-centered practices, and health and wellness but extending to staff supervision, recruitment of staff, service management and quality assurance and more. Thanks to a partnership with the OPWDD, limited time grant funding is available for qualified students to pay for all tuition, fees, books, course materials, NADSP credentialing, and educational support. Eligible students who successfully complete the FLS microcredential and certification can earn $1,000 stipend. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and to advance in your career.
