Following the standardized curriculum developed by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), we prepare you to become a chemical dependency counselor. You will be equipped to assist individuals, families, and communities dealing with substance use challenges amid the ongoing opiate overdose crisis. This microcredential is the third in a three-part series, all essential for earning your CASAC-T certificate and commencing your career as a substance abuse counselor. This microcredential focuses specifically on gaining psychology, interviewing, and counseling skills. A degree in an approved Human Services related field is a necessary prerequisite to starting this microcredential series. Previous educational and work experiences may count toward meeting CASAC-T education requirements. Upon completing all three microcredentials, you will receive your CASAC-T certificate, a critical step to obtaining your trainee credential from OASAS.
