Attention New York State Teachers! This Health Education for Teachers microcredential is part of a collection of microcredentials designed to support in-service New York State certified teachers who are seeking supplementary and/or additional teaching certification. The focus of these microcredentials is not on the methods of teaching, but on core content in the subject area. The courses in this microcredential cover a significant portion of the New York State learning standards and teaching competencies in this subject area, supporting your ultimate application to NYSED. Note that NYSED does not pre-approve any coursework for supplementary or additional teacher certifications. Teachers must submit their transcripts, and proof of additional certification requirements such as Content Specialty Test (CST) results, to NYSED directly to apply for these certifications. Prospective students are encouraged to reach out to the NYSED Office of Teaching Initiatives or their Regional Certification Office (LINK: https://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/certificate/regionalcenters.html) for more information on certification pathways and the application process.
