What you'll learn
This Early Childhood Foundations microcredential is grounded in the foundations of infant care, child, and human development. You will be able to recognize and evaluate language, social and emotional development. You will be able to support implementation of developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum. You will gain essential skills in creating a welcoming, safe and healthy classroom environment while you study research-based practices in effective teaching and classroom management. This microcredential is designed as both an entry point for those interested in joining this important profession and as a pathway for those already working in early childhood settings who are looking for formal education to help advance their career. Successful completion of this microcredential readies you to continue your studies, immediately apply for positions in nursery and daycare settings, or add the specialized skills and college credit needed to advance. You will have the opportunity to earn certifications in Infant and Child First Aid and CPR and to take required DASA, SAVE and Mandated Reporter training.
