What you'll learn

The place to start if you are interested in caring for children! Focused on infants to those five years old, this Child Care microcredential will help you to understand the foundation of early childhood care and education. Through the development of skills ensuring the well-being of a young child, you will focus on health, safety and nutrition to support a healthy lifestyle. You will also explore the core competencies of the infant-toddler caregiver and the caregiver and family relationship. You will also gain an understanding of state policies and regulations as established by the NYS Office for Children and Family Services, note however that this microcredential is not intended for Child Development Associate (CDA) credit. Successful completion of this microcredential supports participants in the St. Lawrence County Child Care Training Program and prepares you for continued study, internships and to immediately apply for entry-level jobs in the early childcare field.
