What you'll learn
This Foundation in Studio Art microcredential is designed to provide you with foundational skills in 2D and 3D drawing. You will be introduced to studio art and learn how to integrate observation and conceptual skills, understanding their application in visual arts. You will study the three core areas of contemporary studio art-drawing from life, 2D and 3D design projects, all designed to help you develop effective and visually engaging artwork. You will gain essential skills in drawing, lines, shapes, forms, texture, composition and more. These skills can support your career as an artist and also translate into skills needed for positions in graphic design, illustration, multimedia art, UX/UI design, and exhibition design. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study, for success as a freelance artist, and to immediately apply for positions in graphic design, illustration, and mixed media design. This coursework can also provide a foundation for those seeking certification to teach art in a community setting or to pursue formal certification as an art teacher.
