What you'll learn

Launch your healthcare career as a Clinical Medical Assistant! This microcredential provides you with the essential skills, knowledge and experience needed to become an integral part of the team in many healthcare settings, helping you to stand out from other applicants for clinical medical assistant positions. You will know how to take vital signs and perform EKGs. You will learn aseptic techniques and infection control, be able to conduct point of care (POC) patient testing, and be able to confidently document your work. You will learn best practices and standards for rooming patients, confidentiality, communication, and professionalism. You will also gain an introduction to medical office management, and insurance and billing through classroom learning and immersive fieldwork. You will complete a minimum of 90 hours of practical, hands-on experience in a healthcare setting. Successful completion of this prepares you to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Medical Assistant certification exam, for continued study, and to immediately apply for clinical medical assistant positions.
