Explore a future in precision manufacturing with the Optical Fabrication Essentials microcredential! Optical fabrication includes the production of everything from eyeglass and camera lenses to mirrors, optical prisms, optical windows, optical fibers and more. This microcredential focuses on the processes, tools, and CNC machining technology that drives optical fabrication. You will gain experience and essential skills in the planning, tooling, fabricating, finishing, testing, coating, and assembly of precision optical elements. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and to immediately apply for entry-level positions like optical lab assistant, test technician, manufacturing associate, and optical technician support. This microcredential also serves as the required educational component of the New York State apprenticeship in Precision Optics Manufacturing Technician.
