What you'll learn

The world of special education can be daunting, but you can help families navigate the confusion! This Special Education Advocacy microcredential prepares you to be an effective special education advocate on behalf of public-school children—covering all requisite education law, disability needs, and legal standards. Upon completion of the classes, you will develop an understanding of law and case, legal research, and the specific rules, regulations and procedures involving advocacy for students with non-typical needs. Development of this microcredential was motivated by inquiries from dedicated parents. The content was developed in collaboration with the Cuddy Law Firm. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and internships and to apply for positions assisting parents in advocating for their children's education needs, to assist school administrators with addressing special education needs, and to work with attorneys in law offices that represent parents, educational entities or both.
