Engage in the education of NYS children with this Early Childhood Studies microcredential! Topics related to the education of infants and children birth to 6 years will be covered including early childhood program theories and models and curriculum development for the young child. You will also gain essential skills in supporting and educating students with physical, emotional and cognitive disabilities in that age range. You will be able to put what you are learning into practice with a 135-hour internship within a pre-school or childcare setting. This microcredential aligns with the subject areas and competency standards outlined by the Council for Professional Recognition for the Child Development Associate (CDA). Success completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study, prepares you to move toward CDA certification, and to immediately apply for child care and teaching aide or assistant positions.
