Your sense of taste, flavor and presentation will grow as you explore artisan breads, cookies, cakes and cake decorating, pastry, pies and chocolate. You will gain essential skills in the safe handling and preparation of food, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation. You will understand a wide range of commercial bakery and pastry equipment, learning how to confidently identify and operate each machine and related tools. Importantly, you will put all of the skills together in real-time, with hands-on learning experiences with the college's food service. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study, provides existing professionals with the specialized skills needed to advance, and also prepares those new to the field to apply for entry or junior level baking and pastry positions at private and commercial bakeries and restaurants throughout New York's hospitality industry.
