NYS Coaching Certification [school district] Preparation
What you'll learn
Kickstart your coaching career with the knowledge and competencies that define coaching excellence in New York State with this microcredential. Anyone interested in becoming a coach at the varsity, junior varsity, freshman or middle school levels, who is not already a certified NYS physical education teacher, must complete a sequence of courses and trainings as determined by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). This microcredential provides you with that required instruction and more. You will learn the philosophy, principles, and organization of athletics in education. You will understand the health science principles that apply to coaching and master the theory and techniques you need to succeed. You will complete required health and safety certifications. Upon successful completion of this microcredential, you will be prepared for continued study, to apply for your Temporary Coaching License, and to immediately begin applying for coaching positions. Note that fingerprint clearance is required for employment.
