What you'll learn

Hands-on experience drives your work in this Building Construction Fundamentals microcredential! Through the campus's onsite lab, you will gain essential skills in all facets of residential construction, from painting and staining, to foundations, floor and wall systems. You will know how to install windows, replace plumbing and the basics of building rehabilitation. You will learn the differences between traditional and pre-fabricated construction, understand how to read blueprints and do basic cost estimates. Similar to a pre-apprenticeship, successful completion of this microcredential readies you to move into union apprenticeship or into the residential construction field as a general laborer.
