What you'll learn

Take your classroom skills to the next level with this Early Childhood Development microcredential! You will build teaching skills grounded in the philosophy of education while learning best practices for classroom management and developmentally appropriate programming. You will gain essential cultural competency skills and family engagement strategies. You will build skills in communication, interpersonal and non-verbal, and learn techniques for observation and evaluation. You will understand regulatory standards as defined by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. Key to this microcredential is field experiences working in childcare centers, Head Start programs, Fort Drum Developmental Centers, family daycare, and other human service settings. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares all to continue their students, readies existing professionals to advance, and provides those new to the field with skills needed to immediately apply for entry level teaching assistant positions in daycare and early childhood settings.
