Are you interested in a career supporting those in recovery? This Addiction Treatment Training Level 1 microcredential, the first in what will be a series of three microcredentials, is the first step in your journey to earn New York State certification as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) or Counseling Trainee (CASAC-T).You will understand the current approaches to prevention of alcohol and nicotine addiction, examine the signs, symptoms, and stages of the various classes of drug addiction, and learn best practices in the unique characteristics of case management in substance abuse. Successful completion of this microcredential alone prepares you to apply for office or administrative positions in a recovery program or facility. The additional two microcredentials will be announced shortly, providing the pathway to State certification.
