What you'll learn

Gain intermediate to advanced proficiency in ASL in as little as two semesters with this American Sign Language and Deaf Culture microcredential. You will gain essential skills in signing and receive feedback from your professor and classmates to boost your proficiency and confidence in this widely used language. Each course in the microcredential addresses topics such as deaf history, deaf education, and deaf culture. Successful completion of this microcredential adds specialized knowledge and skills to those working in any industry who may have Deaf coworkers or employees as well as those working in child care, education and behavioral intervention roles where ASL is increasingly used to communicate with infants and toddlers and individuals who are non-verbal. Note that a modified version of this microcredential is available for educators who need six language credits to complete their TESOL certification.
