What you'll learn

Leap into the world of automation with this Industrial Automation Technology microcredential. This microcredential provides you with the essential skills, knowledge and experience you need to be able to: program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic diagrams, program industrial robots utilizing a teach pendant, and understand and troubleshoot DC circuits, single and three-phase phase AC circuits and their controls. You will be able to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic diagrams. You will also be able to use electrical instrumentation and tools to troubleshoot industrial automation equipment. You will be equipped with safety and risk mitigation skills. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for further study and apprenticeship, as well as to immediately apply for entry-level positions in the field of mechatronics such as PLC programmer or technician, control systems technician, and instrumentation technician, working under an experienced supervisor.
