What you'll learn

Turn your compassion and care for others into a career with this Community Health microcredential! You will be introduced to the role of a support professional and the many areas where they serve-individuals with disabilities, health and nutrition, addiction services, gerontology and more. You will gain essential skills in case management, interviewing, and assessing client needs. You will be able to identify available community resources and refer clients. You will learn techniques to increase the resilience of your clients to prevent crisis situations, recognize triggers, and increase environmental and individual supports. You will be able to apply problem solving strategies and evidence-based interventions, under the supervision of a behavioral support professional. Key to this microcredential is your ability to select two of the four courses in the area of service that you feel best meets your professional goals-including nutrition, gerontology, or individuals with disabilities. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and readies you to apply for entry-level community health positions at hospitals, insurance providers, healthcare networks, non-profit organizations and more.
