What you'll learn

Take your direct care career to the next level! Direct Support Professionals work with individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities to support their full integration into their environments and communities. By completing the Direct Service Provider II microcredential, you will build on the foundation built in the DSP I, develop your case management and documentation skills, and gain a deeper understanding of your own personal healthcare needs. Through immersive fieldwork, you will also gain hands-on skills like community safety for program participants. This microcredential is the second in a series of three that are part of a new, limited time grant program from the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). Thanks to a partnership with the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), limited time grant funding is available to pay for your tuition, fees, books, course materials, NADSP credentialing, and educational support. Eligible students who complete each microcredential and certification can earn $750 stipends. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and readies existing DSPs for advancement.
