What you'll learn

Take the final step in your certified medical coder journey with this Hospital Inpatient Coding and Quality Improvement microcredential! You will be empowered with advanced coding skills, equipping you with fundamental quality improvement techniques. You will learn to recognize disease signs and symptoms, determine principal diagnoses, identify commonly prescribed drugs, and master the coding of diagnoses and procedures. You will also gain the ability to compute diagnostic-related groupings, conduct quality-assessment audits, and expertly analyze and present your findings. This microcredential marks the culmination of a three-microcredential series, along with the Diagnostic Coding and EHR Basics microcredential and the CPT Coding and Documentation Standards microcredential. Successful completion of the microcredential series prepares you to take the AAPC's (formerly known as the American Academy of Professional Coders) Certified Professional Coder exam. As a certified professional coder, you are now ready for continued study and to confidently apply for medical coding positions in any healthcare setting.
