What you'll learn

Make a difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities with this Direct Support Professional (DSP) I microcredential. This microcredential aligns with the DSP I certification offered through the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP), which means the work you do at DCC is recognized across the country. This microcredential is the first in a series of three, along with the DSP II and DSP III microcredentials, that are part of a new, limited time grant program from the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). We encourage you to take all three! This microcredential series is open to those new to the profession and those already working in the field. If you are brand new to the field, you will be placed in an internship where you will be able to practice your skills. Thanks to a partnership with OPWDD, limited time grant funding is available to pay for your tuition, fees, books, course materials, NADSP credentialing, and educational support. Eligible students who successfully complete each microcredential and certification can earn $750 stipends. Successful completion readies you for continued study and career advancement. For those new to the field, you will be ready to immediately apply for DSP positions.
