What you'll learn

Upgrade your career as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with college credit and national certification from NADSP (National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals) in this innovative microcredential series. This first of three-microcredential, this DSP I microcredential provides you with a comprehensive understanding of ethical decision-making, person centered practices, policy dynamics, and legal considerations in this field dedicated to supporting and advocating for and with people with developmental disabilities. You will enhance your professional journey through a unique portfolio workshop, where you will refine your professional writing and reflective skills, culminating in a sophisticated portfolio showcasing your DSP Level I proficiency. Thanks to a partnership with the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), limited time grant funding is available to pay for your tuition, fees, books, course materials, NADSP credentialing, and educational support. Eligible students who successfully complete each microcredential and certification can earn $750 stipends.
