SUTEC Advisory Group

The SUNY Urban Teacher Education Center (SUTEC) Advisory Group serves in an advisory capacity to the SUNY System Administration’s Office of the Provost on matters related to programming and operations in support of the mission of SUTEC.  The Advisory Group is composed of SUNY campus and System leadership, faculty, and staff, as well as partners in P-12 schools, higher education, and community-based organizations.  Members are selected by the Provost to represent diverse perspectives and serve a one-year term with the potential for renewal.

The Advisory Group is charged with providing recommendations on the following topics:

• programming to prepare and support candidates for New York City clinical placements
• plans to increase recruitment, particularly of diverse candidates, into SUTEC
• increasing participation of and collaboration among SUNY campuses in meeting the broader mission of SUTEC
• identifying, developing, and enhancing partnerships with the NYCDOE and community organizations
• identifying key performance indicators for the program
• emerging issues relevant to urban educator preparation and the SUTEC experience
• identifying new resources to accomplish goals
