This program prepares students for a career in the evolving advanced manufacturing field. Students develop expertise using manufacturing materials and processes and production tools and equipment. The program can be completed in one year, and students can apply the Advanced Manufacturing certificate credits toward the Mechanical Technology AAS degree.

Agricultural Engineering Technology: Power Machinery

Focused on techniques of servicing and selling farm machinery and tractors, students in this program develop skills in the mechanics of gas and diesel power units, field machines, hydraulics, transmissions and final drives, as well as diesel engines, power trains, computerized controllers, electronics, and mobile air conditioning as they pertain to modern tractors. Thanks to a partnership with John Deere, many students are guaranteed employment upon graduation. Graduates are highly sought by employers because they possess the knowledge and skills needed for success in an industry where job opportunities are plentiful.

The certificate program in Mechatronics is designed to provide the technical training that is necessary for entry-level employment in a variety of high-tech fields. Mechanical and electronic topics are combined to provide a system view of "mechatronic" automation and robotics. This BSEE program provides flexibility and convenience for completion of a BS degree in electrical engineering while continuing in a current job. It is ideal for professionals and qualified students who are seeking an excellent education in electrical engineering and commensurate opportunities for career advancement. While the program is administered by Stony Brook University, courses are taught online by faculty members at both Stony Brook University and the University at Buffalo. It offers upper-division undergraduate courses, typically offered during the third and fourth years of a four-year undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering. The program is taught completely online, asynchronously delivered for flexible scheduling, and provides all courses, materials, tests, labs, discussions, advising and contact with faculty completely online over the Internet. BSEE Online is an ABET-Accredited and New York State approved degree program in Electrical Engineering.

This program enables students to complete the requirements of two degrees in five years. With an additional year of study, students receive a MA in electrical engineering.

This AAS degree provides the skills and occupational competence necessary for entry into the workplace as an applied engineer who works with and is responsible for all the electronic equipment in the field. In addition to a firm foundation in electrical circuit concepts, the program also provides a robust laboratory experience. These laboratory experiments supplement classroom instruction and problem solving, and computer problem solving and simulation aid in course instruction. Graduates may enter directly into either the construction supervision BTech, the electrical engineering technology BS, the interdisciplinary studies BTech, or technology management BBA degree program.

This BS degree is recognized as a "professional degree" that qualifies for experience/education credit toward New York Professional Engineering Licensure. Graduates are allowed six years of the required 12 years of education/experience credit and are eligible to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), formerly called Engineer-in-Training (EIT), examination upon graduation. The program includes fundamental DC and AC circuit analysis and digital circuit logic to develop skills in use of electronic test equipment and in use of tools and printed circuit fabrication equipment. Laboratory experiments supplement classroom instruction and problem solving, and computer problem solving and simulation aid in course instruction.

This program emphasizes both the theory and the application of scientific and engineering methods, and it prepares graduates for immediate employment or for transfer to an upper-division school upon graduation.

This degree enables students to investigate the theories of electricity with practical experience in electrical, electronic, and computer automated control systems. They receive hands-on experience with programmable controllers, motors, generators, power systems, and computer interfaces. During the final year, students integrate laptop computers into all major courses to further enhance their employability upon graduation.

Through this degree, students design, develop, test, and manufacture electrical and electronic equipment. They may work in product evaluation and testing, using measuring and diagnostic devices to adjust, test, and repair equipment. Electrical and electronic engineering technology is also applied to a wide variety of systems such as communications and process controls.

This program prepares students for entry-level skills as technicians in the fields of electronics, computers, communications, instrumentation, automation, and power. It also provides the basis for transferring to a four-year engineering technology program. Students receive a solid foundation in electrical and electronics theory and hands-on laboratory experience. Computer simulation and applications are an integral part of the curriculum.

This program meets the transfer and continuing education needs of associate degree graduates, as well as addresses industry needs for graduates with sound and current skills in electrical engineering technology. It has a sound foundation of mathematics and physics, provides a variety of electives in the arts, sciences, and the humanities. Graduates are well prepared for a wide range of industry positions in the areas of electronic product development, automated testing, quality control, technical sales, technical writing, and management.

This degree is designed to meet the demand for employees with electronics skills. Students will learn electrical and electronic theories and how to apply those theories in a laboratory setting. Program graduates work in the electronics field as technicians or in a variety of testing and manufacturing careers.

Students in this BTech degree learn design skills and manufacturing tools and techniques, apply mathematical and science skills in a hands-on world, utilize sophisticated laboratory equipment in testing products and processes, and develop computer skills for solving technical problems. Communication and project management skills are very important, and students often participate in small team projects.

This program offers an in-depth study of mechanical engineering technology courses, as well as liberal arts and social science courses. Analytical mechanics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics and electricity for mechanical equipment are among the subjects covered in the curriculum. Graduates either assume positions as mechanical technicians or continue their education toward a bachelor or advanced degree in engineering or technology.

This program provides students with a foundation of knowledge and hands-on experience required and utilized by the industry. It offers traditional courses such as statics, dynamics, strength of materials, material science, machine and product design, applied fluid mechanics, applied thermodynamics, and applied heat transfer providing graduates with a solid foundation of the field. The program also offers numerous technology-based and practical courses, providing students with a well-balanced and needed background.

Mechanical engineering technicians are problem solvers who study system design, and the production, installation and monitoring of products. This degree provides students with practical, hands-on experience, and prepares them to enter the workforce as a mechanical engineering technician or offers the opportunity to transfer to a four-year college to pursue a bachelor's degree.

This program prepares students to fill mechanical engineering technician (or related) career fields. It also lays a foundation for students who plan on pursuing a four-year mechanical technology curriculum. The program includes topics in technical computing, mechanical analysis, manufacturing systems, and material testing.

This laboratory-oriented curriculum emphasizes technical graphics communication, manufacturing processes and mechanical design. Students work hands-on with industry-standard, state-of-the-art equipment as they take courses in computer-aided drafting (CAD) and manufacturing, 3D modeling, machining, and engineering. The program, accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, prepares students for careers as engineering aides, laboratory technicians, and plant engineering technicians in areas such as design and drafting, mechanical design, metal working, and foundry industries.

This program prepares students to be problem solvers with hands-on skills and well-rounded technical backgrounds. They work in a wide range of advanced mechanical systems and processes, including design and development, installation, maintenance, documentation, manufacturing, fabricating, testing and evaluation, and technical sales. Graduates pursue careers in MET, as well as related fields of computer science, industrial, manufacturing, and civil engineering.

This program prepares students for employment in the field of mechanical design and drafting, with an in-depth course of study in the technological aspects of the design profession. Students are exposed to the current technology used in industry and prepared for careers in the field of mechanical design and technology. There are concentrations in computer aided design, facilities design, mechatronics, and precision machining.

This AAS degree prepares students for employment in the manufacturing industries, and they may enter directly from high school or by transferring from another college or university. The program is comprised of general education courses, general industrial technology subjects common to most manufacturing industries, and elective courses providing an area of emphasis in one of three specialties: pulp & paper, plastics, or computer-assisted manufacturing (CAM).

This program prepares students to enter the workforce after graduation to aid engineers with the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of industrial machinery and consumer products. Students will use 2D and 3D CAD (computer-aided design and drafting) software as a design, drafting, and presentation tool in the workforce.

This degree program is for students desiring employment in the field of mechanical or industrial engineering technology. Graduates may qualify for positions such as machine, tool, and product designer; industrial laboratory technician; inspector; production control technician; sales, field, or safety technician; CAD operator; and other related positions. Students can choose from either the machine tool concentration or the design concentration and must complete all concentration requirements to earn the degree. Graduates also have the option of transferring to four-year institutions offering the bachelor's degree in mechanical technology.

This program provides students with an introduction to the principles, materials, and equipment of mechanical technology. Courses include topics in manufacturing, physics, materials, electronics, thermal dynamics, and related subjects. This broad-based program prepares students to pursue a wide variety of career positions, including engineering design, product development, laboratory testing, technical sales, technician, and manufacturing. Students will study a combination of electrical and mechanical topics and have an opportunity to complete an internship to reinforce classroom concepts with real world applications. Graduates will be prepared for direct employment for technician roles in the manufacturing industry or transfer to a 4-year BT program in a compatible field upon completion of this degree.

The Mechatronics Certificate Program prepares graduates to enter the workforce in a wide range of industries with the skills necessary to work on electro-mechanical systems. System-level analysis, control systems, troubleshooting techniques, and repair of electrical and mechanical devices is emphasized with a focus on hands-on laboratory experiences that complement classroom-based instruction.

This certificate program prepares students for employment as production technicians in manufacturing locations throughout the Buffalo-Niagara region. It is a two-semester program, comprised of 25 credit hours of training and development. Graduates pursue pathways for achieving associate or baccalaureate degrees in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and industrial technology.

This two-year program gives students hands-on learning that focuses on developing technical skills needed to support installation, maintenance, repair, calibration and troubleshooting of control circuitry and machine-to-machine networks.
