This prestigious national accreditation ensures a rigorous and quality program of study, enabling students to move seamlessly from it into a bachelor of science degree in nursing. A state of the art simulation center allows students to develop essential critical thinking skills necessary for practice in today's healthcare environment. Successful completion of the program permits graduates to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), and the 2018 NCLEX first-time pass rate for SUNY Adirondack nursing students was 95%.

This AAS degree prepares students, upon graduation, for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The curriculum offers a balance of courses in general education and nursing. Students are provided with the theoretical knowledge and clinical practice needed to provide nursing care for individuals throughout the life span. Learning experiences are provided in the classroom, nursing laboratory, and a variety of clinical settings. Nursing education is available at both the Auburn and Fulton campuses, and both programs admit students every fall.

This program is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. Tightly organized and sequential, students must follow the prescribed course sequencing and may earn course credit by enrollment, transfer or advanced placement according to college and Nursing Program policy. This hands-on program combines classroom work, lab work, and the clinical experience to prepare graduates for every aspect of the job. In this two-year program, students receive a broad-based liberal arts education in addition to developing the skills necessary for nursing practice. The overall passing rate for FLCC nursing students is competitive with state and national averages.

The Nursing Science Program offers a four‐semester curriculum, which provides a balance of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Nursing. The nursing courses assist students in gaining the knowledge, attitudes, and skills essential to nursing practice in a variety of settings. This two-year degree prepares students to provide patient-centered care to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Students will learn to care for those experiencing biophysical and psychosocial health issues in a variety of healthcare settings.

Upon completion of the nursing program, the graduate will be educationally prepared to provide patient-centered care to individuals across the lifespan with diverse cultures who are experiencing disruptions in biophysical and psychosocial dimensions in a variety of healthcare settings. The graduate will provide care utilizing the National League for Nursing (NLN) Association Degree (AD) competencies, Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies; and practice within the three roles of the AD nurse. The graduate will be prepared to take the National Council of State Boards for Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become a nurse. This program provides RNs an opportunity to enhance their nursing practice in leadership, evidence-based practice, nursing informatics, and health policy. The curriculum integrates knowledge, theory and research, with courses emphasizing public, family and community nursing, advanced health assessment, health promotion, nursing theory, ethics, organizational communications, systems theory, leadership, and management.

The Nursing Department offers a dual degree curriculum, accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN), leading to an Associate in Science Degree (AS) and accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and awarding of the Bachelor in Science Nursing (BSN) degree. Upon completion of the fifth semester in the Multi-Award degree program, the student is eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination - (NCLEX) to become a Registered Nurse. If successful, in semesters six through eight, students will complete their nursing education and be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) through SUNY Empire State College.

This program educates individuals who will provide safe, patient-centered holistic nursing care in today's diverse healthcare environment. Graduates are prepared to excel in a variety of settings through clinical experiences at local hospitals, health care facilities and community agencies.

This program enables students to complete the requirements to become a registered professional nurse (RN) in two years - first completing the requirements to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in one year, with an option to complete the RN requirements in a second, two-semester course. This unique career-ladder design lets students build their career, and education, without repeating previous courses. Graduates are eligible to take the state's licensing exam to become a registered nurse and are prepared for transfer to a four-year school to complete a bachelor's degree.

This program offers diverse clinical experiences in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community settings. Courses in nursing and the liberal arts provide in-depth career preparation. Scholarships are available for students in the program. After passing the NCLEX-RN examination and obtaining an RN license, graduates are eligible for employment in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, schools, industries, hospices, family planning agencies, doctor's offices, and a variety of other settings. Graduates are prepared to pursue baccalaureate and higher degrees in nursing and advanced practice roles.

Students completing this program earn an AS degree. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and by the New York State Education Department (NYSED), Office of Professions. It can be completed in two academic years of full-time enrollment or pursued on a part-time basis. Nursing courses, however, must be taken consecutively, and it is recommended that they be taken without interruption.

This dual degree nursing program is a model to meet the high demand for bachelor's degrees in nursing, while allowing students to earn both an associate and baccalaureate degree over four years. Associate program graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam at the end of their third year. Courses are sequential and progress from simple to more complex situations, with specialized content in obstetrics, psychiatrics, and pediatrics integrated into the program. Clinical experience further enables students to gain technical competence to apply theoretical knowledge with practice.

This Dual Degree Nursing Program (DDNP) combines general education courses and nursing courses, allowing students to complete their baccalaureate education in four years and be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN (RN licensing exam) in three years. After three years of full-time study, graduates earn an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensing examination to become Registered Nurses (RN). The fourth year is online for those who have obtained their RN license and have graduated with an AAS degree in nursing from SUNY Canton.

Students in this program earn two nursing degrees in four years - beginning with an AAS and culminating in a BSN - through a unique combination of traditional and online classes. They focus on integrating theory, research, and evidence to provide client-centered care in a complex healthcare environment. In the third year, students are prepared to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX) for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.

This accelerated second-degree option offers the undergraduate nursing curriculum as an intensive, full time, 12-month program designed for students who have already completed a bachelor's degree in a field outside of nursing. Students selecting this option will complete all required courses in the nursing major in a sequence that provides accelerated progression and, upon completion, are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become a registered nurse.

This accelerated progam is open only to applicants who have earned a baccalaureate degree, in any discipline, by the date of enrollment and who have met prerequisite and admission requirements by the start of registration. It is a 15-month, full-time, program that prepares beginning practitioners to assume a variety of roles in different settings. Admitted students can transfer in 65 credits of pre-requisite courses to qualify for the BS degree and will complete 60 credits of concentrated nursing courses in residence at Downstate.
