SUNY Board Approves Dr. W. Richard Stephens, Jr.’s Appointment as Acting Head of the SUNY College of Ceramics at Alfred University

New York City – The State University of New York Board of Trustees today approved the appointment of Dr. W. Richard Stephens, Jr. as acting unit head/vice president for Statutory Affairs at the SUNY College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
About Dr. W. Richard Stephens, Jr.
Dr. Stephens has served as the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Alfred University since 2013, where he is responsible for strategic and operational progress over its five colleges and other off-campus programs, including student success, degree completion, and online learning.
Prior to joining Alfred University, Dr. Stephens served as provost of Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina and as chief academic officer and dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Husson University in Bangor, Maine. Dr. Stephens is a recipient of one Pew Fellowship and two Pew-Reinard Fellowships. He received his B.A. from Greenville College, and an M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Stephens’ appointment is effective June 22, 2016. He will receive a stipend of $25,000 in addition to his current salary of $185,000.
