Statement from Chancellor King and SUNY Board of Trustees on Pride Month

June 30, 2025

"Pride Month is a celebration of love and the incredible diversity that makes New York State, and our entire nation, extraordinary. Following the Stonewall Uprising of June 1969, New York State became the birthplace of the Gay Rights movement and the quest for equal treatment under the law for all LGBTQIA+ Americans.

"At SUNY, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that all students are welcomed and are part of an inclusive and respectful environment when they come to any of our 64 campuses. We know that diversity is our strength, that love is love, and that everyone deserves to live as their true selves. We revel in Pride Month, and we will continue to ensure that every student, every educator, every staff member, and every visitor will always feel welcomed and respected when they are part of SUNY."
