Statement from Chancellor King and SUNY Board of Trustees on the Anniversary of September 11

"Today marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks against our state and nation on September 11, 2001. While time has passed, the losses from that day and the shock from those attacks are still keenly felt by New Yorkers and all Americans. Additionally, we remember the heroic sacrifices and acts of bravery from first responders, medical professionals, and everyday citizens who rushed into harm's way to try and help in the midst of that horror and during its aftermath.
"With many of our students having been born into a post-9/11 world, SUNY is committed to using education to ensure that this atrocity is never forgotten. It is our duty as an educational institution to remember the lessons of the past and continue to instill the value of unity, especially in the face of adversity and tragedy.
"As we remember this tragic day, we commemorate the lives that were lost and the heroes who stepped up to help others. We also must recognize the depth of our strength when we stand together as one."
