Black Leadership Institute

SUNY Black Leadership Institute logo

SUNY has boldly committed to become the most inclusive University System in the country; where all students, faculty and staff feel welcome and supported. Importantly, SUNY understands that to truly meet its goals, the University must employ, in addition to faculty and staff, leaders at the highest levels who share common experiences and culture with its student population: students who will become our next generation of leaders.

We understand it will take solid and continuing investment to demonstrate to all of our emerging and current leaders SUNY's commitment to their success and to ensuring a collaborative and welcoming environment in which they can continue their professional growth.

The Black Leadership Institute (BLI) is open to any and all prospective candidates regardless of race, color, national origin, or sex, and is consistent with all current governing federal and state nondiscrimination law. All application submissions will be assessed and evaluated in accordance with the required eligibility criteria.

The Black Leadership Institute will aim to ultimately support, retain, and foster the success of SUNY’s emerging and current leaders at the University President and President's Cabinet level (Provosts, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Business Officers, etc.).

Our Mission:

To identify, foster, and support the development and retention of current and emerging leaders for an increasingly diverse university system and nation.

Selected Fellows will then have the option to accept the Fellowship and commit to the program.

Since the BLI Fellowship program has limited spaces and high demand, we recommend considering the decision seriously before making the final commitment.
