Vice President for Research (MP)
This title is in the unclassified service and is designated Managerial/Confidential. Appointees to Managerial/Confidential titles serve at the pleasure of the chief administrative officer and are not represented for collective negotiations.
VICE PRESIDENT FOR RESEARCH, serves in the same capacity as the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research but concentrates only in the area of campus research activities.
Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research serves as head of the graduate academic studies and academic research program of a campus.
- In the graduate studies area, is responsible for the development of academic policy, standards, and quality;
- supervises recruiting and hiring of academic staff members;
- coordinates curriculum development, innovation, and change, coordinates graduate curricula with other curricula of the campus;
- develops and presents the budget and other resource needs of the program.
- In the research area, directs the development of proposals and their presentation to sponsoring agencies;
- administers research programs conducted by faculty and others on campus;
- works with outside sponsoring agencies to gain funds;
- serves on many campus committees representing the graduate program and research perspective.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Doctorate and a substantial number of years of faculty and academic administrative and managerial experience of a high-level nature.
