Vice President for Liberal Arts (MP)

VICE PRESIDENT FOR LIBERAL ARTS directs an academic program in the arts and sciences at a large and complex university center. Does related work as required.
- Supervises academic teaching, research, and public service activities in the biological sciences, education, humanities and fine arts, physical sciences and mathematics, and social and behavioral sciences;
- coordinates the academic program under his direction with the graduate, health sciences, and professional school endeavors and with such support services on campus as the library, computing center, instructional resource center, and others;
- provides leadership to gain innovation in these academic areas;
- develops academic policy;
- directs maintenance of the highest academic standards;
- directs the recruitment and hiring of academic and other staff;
- requests and administers budgetary and other resources for the program;
- is sensitive to the academic needs of the students and as to how best these can be conjoined with the various talents of the faculties;
- directs the initiation and extension of new academic program options and educational opportunities;
- serves on campus committees.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate and an appropriate number of years of faculty and academic administrative and managerial experience of a high-level nature.
