University Maintenance and Management Planner (SL5)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
- This title, intended for use only at SUNY Central Administration, recommends, develops and assists in the implementation of the State University Plant Management Program and Information System to include work control systems;
- functional cost accounting;
- maintenance stores management;
- work performance standards;
- preventive maintenance for buildings, grounds, and plant equipment; personnel staffing guides; etc. to insure an effective maintenance operation for the protection of the capital investments of the physical plant.
- He/she conducts on-site inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of the plant maintenance programs systems and procedures;
- analyzes all available workload data and recommends appropriate staffing and equipment requirements;
- instructs plant personnel in implementation of the aforementioned formal maintenance management programs;
- administers the University Energy Management and Budgeting System which involves the development of annual utilities budget estimates for each campus, establishment of consumption targets, monitoring cost trends for all utilities, updating and revising budget estimates, recommendation of final campus allocations, recognition of possible problems areas relating to utilities use and recommendation of corrective measures and development of energy conservation practices.
- She/he acts as a consultant to the State Energy Office and the Division of the Budget with the development and analysis of the State Energy Management and Budgeting System for all other State agencies and coordinates training programs for the University's maintenance and utilities personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Education, or related field. At least five years experience in Maintenance and Management Planning on the Higher Education level.
