University Instructional Specialist (SL5)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
Positions in this family provide skilled, specialized assistance to faculty, staff, students and various publics in instructional research, library services, and other educationally related programs or projects.
- Supervises the technical operation of a sophisticated laboratory or installation.
- Designs and supervises the construction of specialized equipment.
- Plans and supervises the design and conduct of series of experiments utilizing equipment and materials of the unit.
- The specialist utilizes experience or training in complex evaluative judgments of data and records.
- Provides consultation on development of instructional and research projects.
- These positions may involve responsibility for training students in the study of instructional or complex research equipment and, in many cases, will be the interface between resource equipment technology and its application to the instructional, research and public service mission areas of a campus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree and five years experience in the appropriate discipline.
