T.H. Radiation Therapist II (SL2)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
As a family the positions in this group are responsible for the delivery of radiation therapy to patients as prescribed and under the regulations of the National Cancer Institute. Incumbents must have in-depth knowledge of high-voltage, state-of-the-art radiation therapy equipment with safety standards and to properly maintain same.
- Administers prescribed doses of radiation to patient in accordance with physician's instructions;
- operates all types of Radiotherapy equipment, (i.e. Co-60, Linear Accelerator, Simulator, etc.);
- take port films to confirm treatment volume and maintain current jacket files;
- perform pre-treatment preparation by operating the Simulator for the localization of tumor size and position;
- taking contour and collect all physical factors for treatment plan, take photographs of patients for portal verification, observes all safety measures for self and patients during treatment, recognizes all types of radiation reactions and provides proper care and instructions to patients;
- participates in the department's educational program;
- coordinates departmental and in-patient activities to provide proper patient care;
- maintains accurate and current treatment records;
- schedules patients' appointments.
- Incumbents work under general supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
AAS, RRT eligible or AMA certified, and NYS license or eligible in radiation therapy. Zero to three years experience.
