T.H. Medical Radiography Assistant Director (SL4)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
The overall responsibilities of the positions in the Radiography job family collectively are to provide radiographic support services to medical staff in the areas of Diagnostics, Ultrasound, CT Scanning, Special Procedures, Nuclear Medicine and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
- Supervises and performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgement and initiative in the utilization of diagnostic equipment.
- Supervises technical diagnostic services of an assigned section such as, special procedures, ultrasound, CAT scan and nuclear medicine.
- Maintains the standards of quality in the operations of the department.
- Recommends area assignments of personnel to coordinate activities within the department, with other departmental activities and services of the hospital.
- Initiates employee evaluation reports.
- Recommends promotion, discipline and other administrative action.
- Reports problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, procedures, transfer and recommends action in all personnel matters for those personnel assigned to him/her.
- Will assist in the selection and preparation of specification for equipment and supplies.
- Will be required to teach medical Residents, Radiology technologists and appropriate hospital personnel, establishes procedures and operation of each equipment in accordance with the guidelines and teaching objectives of the department.
- May be assigned on a rotation basis to perform mobile diagnostic examinations in a satellite diagnostic suite and perform examinations without a physician's supervision.
- Accumulates statistical information to determine work patterns, patient flow, budgetary information and fiscal requirements.
- Assists in the selection and preparation of specifications for equipment and supplies.
- Will interact with service representatives to maintain the equipment in proper working order.
- Participates in and conducts research in required specialty.
- Responsible for conveying initial impressions of care results to the Director.
- And is responsible for the procurement, storage and routing of supplies and for room preparation.
- Recommends the procurement and necessity for maintenance of equipment when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
AAS degree or certificate in appropriate specialization by American Registry of Radiology Technologist. NYS license and five years related experience to include two years in an advisory administrative capacity. Special local qualifications apply based on position assignment.
