T.H. Medical Radiographer II (SL2)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
The overall responsibilities of the positions in the Radiography job family collectively are to provide radiographic support services to medical staff in the areas of Diagnostics, Ultrasound, CT Scanning, Special Procedures, Nuclear Medicine and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of all diagnostic general radiographic procedures and general knowledge of special procedures work such as CT scanning, Neuro- and Vascular Angiography, Myelography, Venography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and may include MRI.
- They must be able to use independent judgement under the most adverse conditions, and be able to produce the highest quality radiographs using quickwork techniques;
- understand and be able to work all special procedures equipment including catheter and guide techniques, injections, monitors, etc.;
- understand the limits of equipment and its care;
- demonstrate good knowledge of all darkroom techniques and emergency procedures;
- are responsible for keeping updated on all department quality control and operational guidelines relating to the maintenance on a non-contaminated work environment, be knowledgeable of all waste disposal guidelines, quality control procedures, records maintenance and inventory control.
- Incumbents assist in the department's continuing education program and after successful completion of orientation, participate in the training of graduate students and medical staff.
- Incumbents work under general direction, planning own work and may supervise staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
AAS, NYS and AART registry or other registration depending on specialty, and two to four plus years of experience, or zero to three years experience in specialty
